Terms of Service

Last updated: 22 March 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the AI CV Builder website at aicvbuilder.co.uk (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and AI CV Builder (“we”, “us”, “our”).

2. Service description

AI CV Builder is an AI-powered CV tailoring service designed for UK job seekers. You upload your existing CV and paste a job description, and our service uses artificial intelligence (powered by the Anthropic Claude API) to generate a tailored, ATS-optimised version of your CV matched to the specific role. We also provide ATS scoring and keyword analysis to help you understand how well your CV matches the target position. The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

3. User obligations

By using the Service, you agree to the following obligations:

  • Accurate information— you must provide truthful and accurate information in your CV. You must not submit false qualifications, fabricated work experience, or misleading information. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the content you provide and the content you ultimately submit to employers.
  • Lawful use— you must not use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including but not limited to fraud, identity theft, or misrepresentation.
  • No misuse— you must not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service, nor use automated tools (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access or interact with the Service without our prior written consent. You must not extract the underlying AI models, prompts, or algorithms used by the Service.
  • Account security— if you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
  • Eligibility— you must be at least 16 years of age to use the Service. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have the consent of a parent or guardian.

4. Payment terms

We offer the following pricing tiers. All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and inclusive of VAT where applicable:

  • £5 — one-off CV tailoring— a single payment for one tailored CV. No account required. No recurring charges. Payment is taken before you can download the tailored CV.
  • £10 — enhanced tier— a one-off payment providing access to additional features as described on our pricing page at the time of purchase.
  • £14/month — subscription— a recurring monthly subscription providing unlimited CV tailoring and premium features. You may cancel at any time, and cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial months.

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details. By making a payment, you authorise us to charge the applicable amount via Stripe. We reserve the right to change our pricing at any time, but changes will not affect existing active subscriptions until the next renewal period.

Due to the digital nature of our service and the immediate delivery of the tailored CV, refunds are generally not available once the output has been generated. However, we comply with the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and your statutory rights are not affected. If you experience a technical issue that prevents you from receiving your tailored CV, please contact us at hello@aicvbuilder.co.uk and we will provide a replacement or issue a full refund.

5. AI-generated content disclaimer

The tailored CVs produced by the Service are generated using artificial intelligence. While we strive to produce high-quality, relevant output, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all output before use.
  • The Service does not guarantee that a tailored CV will result in a job interview, job offer, or any particular outcome.
  • AI output should be treated as a drafting tool, not a finished product. You should always review your tailored CV carefully and make any necessary corrections or adjustments before submitting it to employers.
  • The AI restructures, rephrases, and prioritises the content you provide. It does not fabricate qualifications or experience. However, you should always verify the output for accuracy.
  • While we optimise for ATS compatibility, we cannot guarantee compatibility with every ATS system, as these vary between employers.
  • We are not responsible for any consequences arising from the use of AI-generated content, including but not limited to unsuccessful job applications or misrepresentation claims.

6. Intellectual property

You retain full ownership of the content you upload to the Service, including your original CV. The tailored CV output generated by the Service is yours to use as you see fit.

All other intellectual property associated with the Service — including but not limited to the website design, logos, branding, software, AI prompts, algorithms, and underlying technology — remains the exclusive property of AI CV Builder and is protected by copyright and other applicable laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
  • AI CV Builder shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, including loss of employment opportunities.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to the Service. We may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales. Your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without prior notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or used the Service fraudulently. Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Service will cease immediately.
  • If you have an active subscription, no further charges will be made, but no refund will be issued for the remaining period of the current billing cycle.
  • Any data associated with your account may be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at hello@aicvbuilder.co.uk or through your account settings (if applicable). Upon account deletion, all your personal data and saved CVs are deleted immediately with no waiting period. For subscription users, cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period.

9. Data protection

We take the protection of your personal data seriously. Our collection, use, and storage of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.

We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. For the £5 tier, your CV data is processed in memory and is not stored after you download your tailored CV. For full details on what data we collect, how we use it, your rights, and how to exercise them, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to these Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “last updated” date. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify account holders by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
